Are You Ready for Coco to Help You Find Comfort in a BarcaLounger?

Coming this Spring from Barcalounger is Montview, a classic design in your choice of black or brown  leather in winged pub-back styling, and offering voice-activated power recline and headrest functions.

Imagine this: You’re exhausted at the end of a long day, come home and make your way to your favorite Barcalounger. You sink down into the chair, ready to recline all the way back for a quick catnap. In the time it takes to say, “Relax,” you simply command ‘Coco’ to recline, and a female voice softly agrees, “Coco, recline,” then glides you smoothly into the sleep position in the chair.

Voice-activation, a feature popular in electronics, phones, cars and navigation systems, has found its way to the furniture industry. This Spring, leading motion upholstery brand Barcalounger will introduce a voice-activated feature in three new power reclining chairs including Montview, above, and the modern-styled swivel glider recliner, Powell, below.

If you address any of the new Barcalounger chairs with the command, “Coco, recline,” or, “Coco, stop,” or “Coco, go to home position,” or “Coco, go to TV position,” a female voice repeats the command and then carries it out. The command of “heads up” activates the power headrest function.

“Voice activation is increasingly popular in electronics, phones, TVs, cars and navigation systems, and resonates with today’s consumers, especially Millennials,” said Larry Smith, CEO and president of Barcalounger. “What a natural to offer voice-activation for a comfort product like reclining furniture.”

What do you think? Would “Coco” be welcome in your home, along with her recliner friends?

Inspiration: Island Living

Tips and Ideas for Bringing the Beauty of the Beach to Your Home

Turquoise waters, golden sand, salty waves and blue skies. Want to recreate the same island vibe in your home? Here’s how!

If you love the calm, laid-back feeling of sand, sunshine and island life, the launch of summer is the perfect time to incorporate that inspiration into your home décor.

Try these tips and ideas to create a space that feels like a vacation from the outside world, year-round.

Start with Color

Bringing the beauty of the beach home starts with surrounding yourself with ocean-inspired colors. Combine shades of blue and green with neutrals such as tan, white and gray for an island-inspired color palette. Start with a blue leather sofa, such as the Kelsoand accent it with natural materials and soft neutrals. Artwork is another great way to bring the spirit of the beach into a room, while tying the colors in a space together.

Focus on Relaxation

One of the most appealing parts of island living is the relaxed lifestyle. As you design your space, incorporate furniture and décor that helps create this atmosphere. Recliners and motion sofas make it easy to relax in comfort and style. The Cosmo’s soft white leather cover provides a neutral backdrop ideal for a modern coastal aesthetic.

Capture the Spirit

Island living doesn’t have to mean over-stuffed and excessively casual—it’s more of a feeling than a specific style. If your taste runs more traditional, infuse your space with the island vibe by focusing on your color palette and relaxation theme. The Warrendale Sofa Group has more classic and refined styling, and is available in a stunning Shoreham Blue, the perfect shade for an upscale island design aesthetic.

‘Dress Casual’ Looks for Your Family Room

Casual, comfortable style takes many forms.

There are blue jeans and sweatshirts, there are jeans and a shirt, and then there’s what some call business or ‘dress casual.’ It’s a more refined look, often with layering and details, such as slacks with a button-down shirt and a jacket or vest…set off by just the right accessory.

That ‘dress casual’ look is the vibe for BarcaLounger’s new introductions set for the April High Point Furniture Market.

The looks are refined modern, or traditional with a twist. For instance, the new Radcliffe recliner and the Ryder recliner are casual, yet dressed up with rich wood trim and clean lines.

In all, Barcalounger is introducing 24 recliners and pedestal chairs, 8 motion sofa groups, and has a new emphasis on leather sectionals and modulars at the international furniture market

The looks are inviting and comfortable, yet sophisticated. Kind of like the slacks, shirt and jacket wardrobe you’d wear for a fun but special occasion on the weekend.

Stylish tailoring stands out on this recliner that offers a tall back and additional leg extension. Nailhead trim accentuates the arms, sides and modified wings on the chair, and top-stitching detail is featured on the leather seat.
